**January 2015** – To kick of this new year of quarterly giving, The University National Bank has selected to support **The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Wome****n** movement. Often called the silent killer, Heart Disease is actually more deadly than all forms of cancer…combined. And, in 2003, research revealed a scary fact for women: it’s far and wide the number 1 killer of females. As a result, the American Heart Association launched Go Red for Women. Since the movement’s launch, fewer women are dying from disease. To be specific, 330 less women A DAY are succumbing to heart disease. More Americans recognize that this disease is the number one killer of women. Many women have also taken more ownership of their health and are exercising and doing routine checks for characteristics of the disease. For more information about the Go Red for Women movement, visit the cause’s webpage at http://www.goredforwomen.org. And be sure to wear red in support of the movement on National Go Red for Women day - Friday, February 6, 2015.
*About The University National Bank’s Quarterly Giving Program:*
Each quarter, UNB selects a local charity they wish to support. Throughout the quarter, a community bulletin board displays information about the charity and UNB employees collect donations from customers and community members. In addition, UNB staff contributes donations by hosting several “Jeans Days.” At the end of the quarter, a check for the lump sum of the donations is presented to the charity and the members of the organization have the opportunity to tell the staff more about its efforts, goals, and additional philanthropic opportunities.
